Hi there 👋
From welcoming the new year with many new plans, goals, to seeing the email that one of my long-term dreams has come true - being officially recognised by Docker as a Captain 😍 - I have started 2024 with a great roller coaster ride!
And now, for the fun story 💫
Sarthak is now a Docker Captain 🧑✈️
As a child, I dreamt of becoming many things in life. That included being an astronaut, becoming the next Michael Jackson in dancing, travelling the world, exploring hidden caves and endless, open seas - well, too many dreams is fun as a child - but I never imagined I would be honoured with the title of a Captain.
Not of the seas, or of pirates (imagine that 😂) - but something just as fulfilling and adventurous!
If you have been following my channel, you know how much of a hardcore enthusiast I am about Docker. When I started working with Pfizer in 2021, my work as a software engineer introduced me to new technologies like Docker and AWS ECS.
And that kicked things off for me to learn Docker like there is no tomorrow. I started absorbing content on Docker from resources online - mainly through my friend Franseco’s channel - and eventually, I started implementing Docker in my daily life - both at work and with my side projects.
How did I become a Docker Captain? 🐳
Now, that’s a story worth a popcorn binge 🍿
As with any other content on my channel Bitfumes, I started publishing my learnings on Docker. This included a 2.5 hour complete beginner Docker course that was very well-received. I was not even aware of the Docker Captain program at the time, but once I did, I started focusing more and sharpened my skills by publishing more content on core concepts of Docker.
And out of the blue, I came across Harsh Manvar’s post on LinkedIn to apply to the Docker Captain program and I jumped on the opportunity. And here’s the first kicker I got - after filling up the application form, I reached out to Harsh and Francesco as a backup for recommendations - but the first surprise received was totally unexpected -
Just a few days after applying, the Docker team itself reached out for an interview!
That was an exciting but nervous couple of days 😟
Sailing through the interview ⛵️
As much as it was going to be a friendly discussion with the Docker team, it still felt like I was appearing for an interview 😂
But on the scheduled day, Eva from the Docker team had a call with me and right off the bat, they were impressed and expressed the appreciation for Bitfumes channel 🥳
That put me at ease and boosted my confidence, and the next set of questions went like a breeze.
And at the end of the call, Eva suggested creating a video specifically focused on Docker Scout as a way of providing the approval team with some fresh content to look over. And I delivered the result a few days later, with a crisp, slick video of the complete working of Docker Scout and its functionalities 😎

A Wholesome Whalecome 🐳
December 28, 2023 will be a very memorable day for me. As I was lying in the cold, wintry greenery of Wayanad, enjoying the last days of the year detached from the digital world, I received an email from Docker “whalecoming” me to their coveted Docker Captain program 😇

One of the greatest year-end gifts I could wish for 😁
I owe this great gift to both the amazing team at Pfizer as well as to Francesco for keeping my sails strong with the wind till I reached my shore.

Like I discussed in my previous newsletter, I launched Code Jugaad 🇮🇳 - a dedicated channel for my Hindi speaking followers and learners and the launch has been very successful and welcoming.
In a short span of a week, Code Jugaad has gained almost 100 subscribers, and I have published 18 videos 🤯 - go check the channel right now!
My goal for Code Jugaad is to reach 100k strong learners by the end of this year. Shall we make it happen? 💪
